Souleyman Bachir Barry

Senegalese, Fula, Youth Leadership

Souleymane Bachir Barry is a 21 year old movement builder from the Puular ethnic group in West Africa. He spent his youth as the democratically elected youth mayor of his home city, Medina Yoro Foula, where he organized and carried out youth-led campaigns to build resilience, adopt new systems of sustainable development and address traditional harmful practices like female genital cutting and child marriage.

In his time with the celebrated human rights movement building organization, Tostan, he became a recognized leader of youth action, community development, and the role of men in ending gender-based violence

Souleymane is excited to bring his experience in next-generation rural African movement building and digital means of sharing and celebrating communitarian successes.
