Bhante Buddharakkhita

Bhante Buddharakkita was born in and lives in Uganda, Africa. He was ordained as a Theravada Buddhist monk in 2002. Founder and Abbot of the Uganda Buddhist Center in Uganda, Bhante organized a community development hub that supports the wellbeing and education of community members of all backgrounds in rural Uganda. He is a Visiting Professor at Union Theological Seminary in New York, USA and a Spiritual Advisor to the Global Buddhist Relief in New Jersey. Since 2005,

Bhante has been teaching meditation in Africa, the United States and worldwide . His current research work examines the intersection of Buddhism with indigenous African wisdom, economic principles, healing ancestral trauma and emotional intelligence. Author of the book on “Caring for our Planet: Buddhism and Environment,” Bhante has been active at the UN Climate Change Summit and other key international convenings.
